RRR SFC1714
Challenge this week is to make a card for a Mother, or Grandmother...or other special Mom figure...even a best friend.
I used an image from Lynne Stansbery
Ooooooh the warmth of the sauna spreads over one just coloring this image.  My muscles have been a bit sore as we gather our wood for heating the winter of 2014/2015.   This year I have learned to use the mall and wedge, as well as the log splitter.  I love it when hubby trusts me enough to go do something else while I'm 'logging'!  :)  So I could definitely use the sauna, but my girlfriend will so appreciate me thinking of her anyhow.  She's an avid outdoor gardener way ahead of me with her flowers!!!

And as we close out this post, don't forget Mother's Day is coming up - just a few weeks away!

 Hummingbird Birthday
I love hummingbirds - they visit our humble yard ever year.  And as of yet we have never found a nest!  How disheartening to watch the little sweeties flit around my hands as I change out their nectar and they never offer me a glimpse into their humble homes!   I've done some embossing on the left hand strip but it doesn't show in the photo too well.  Sorry about that, but I enjoyed immensely the coloring of a male ruby throat hummingbird on my amaryllis!

Come on over to Outlawz and join in the ANYTHING GOES challenge for our Greetings Group.   I have the lovely opportunity to invite all my friends-THAT'S YOU!

SFC1614 HHH Flutterby Butterfly
Your challenge, if you choose to accept it, is: Add a butterfly to your card, it can be a diecut, a brad, sticker, or in your image, as long as there is a butterfly!

Spring is finally closing in on us in Southwest WI.  On 04/11/14 we had 74 degrees and split over 6 chords of wood and sweating all the way (Day 3 of 3!!), but soon to be conquered by 29 degrees the following weekend and putting our winter coats back on!  I can't wait for summer, but meanwhile, we are finally cleaning out gardens, planting vegetables, riding bikes and having a backyard barbecue already (with jackets on of course!)  BTW, I'm learning to properly use a mall and wedge!  Phwew, and we are building some honking nice biceps and triceps!

Come on over to Squigglefly and enter a card with a butterfly on.  There are a lot of freebies for you to start your collection with, but if you just want to come and play that's all right too.  See you soon - flutterby????

DRY OR WET? = Emboss that sentiment!

MUCHO THANKS TO OUR Sponsor: RSD (Exclusive)
Theme: The Embossable - (Add either a dry or wet embossed sentiment to your project)

Wow, what a wonderful week this will be.  I have been selected to host the theme THE EMBOSSABLE this week at Outlawz Greetings Card Challenges.  I do hope you will join me.  Now take a look below and tell me you cannot do this - it's pretty basic.  My love for scrapping and card making came with embossing......
This card = Bootsie Digi from RSD"friends" was embossed with glittery embossing powder on black and then mounted on gold shiny cs. All coloring with copics, added a few gems , fancy button and twine and washi tape.

I also completed a card for CHANA who has been very ill:
The sentiment again was embossed (wet) with embossing powder directly onto the card front - a shiny white cs from Stampin' Up. All coloring by copics and the flower is a multi layer flower.
HOPE YOU LIKE - Now let's see your versions of using any wet or dry embossed sentiment on a card.  Come join us at OUTLAWZ GREETINGS CHALLENGE.

I adore Rick St. Dennis images - check them out.
 INTERIOR of card

AND - WALLAH - I have created a 2nd Easter Card on behalf of my friend Chana who is very ill and normally would be filling this spot.

"FOR YOU CHANA" - This image is from NICE CRANE
and is called THE EASTER BUNNY.  Follow the links and grab yourself an image for Easter.
THERE ARE FOUR Images in this set!!!
I love Easter - I am a true vintage lady delighting in receiving the vintage Easter cards of yesterday.  So that's why I tried to create using RSD's  Large Easter Bunny as well as NICE CRANE's Easter Bunny!
My cards are 5.5x5.5 to allow for easier mailing, altho the flutterby in the corner of the image of the first card means I'm going to have to create a card box or hand deliver.    All my coloring is with copics and some distressing with Distress Ink Tea Dye.  I am so addicted to using copics and distress inks that even a 12 step program will never help me now!
Come on over to OUTLAWZ GREETINGS CHALLENGE and enter your card with an Easter theme.  Put it in the gallery and on Inlinkz and best of luck on perhaps a great win of images for you.

Prize: 1 Digital Image Set
Image Author: BETSY LEPLATT

Easter is such a beautiful time of the year, whether you send Easter cards or not, I know you still take time to browse thru the Easter merchandise in the store and perhaps attend a local church event.   I love painting Tulips so I chose Betsy LePlatt's TULIP TRIO.  The background is embossed and lightly inked with a lavender distress ink.  I love lavender and I love copics, what a combo!

The FLOWER on the right abed a nice purple piece of tulle is made out of WASHI tape.  I don't think there is anyone in crafts now who hasn't heard of Washi tape.  The idea of creating a flower from Washi tape came to me on Pinterest and I found a nice tutorial on it elsewhere.  You simply take 15 to 16 inches of your color/pattern of washi tape and then stick another 15 or 16 inches to the opposite side of that tape and you now have a nice 16 in. run of a ribbon that you can stitch down one side (by machine or hand), pull gently to gather together, and fasten together and then glue the flower down to piece of felt so you can adhere the whole embellishment to your card.  I then put a pearl in the center.

At YOUR SCRAPBOOK PLACE today there is a wonderful challenge (WITH PRIZES) on finding something from Pinterest to inspire a card or art project and entering it there.  So I have.  Follow the link and come on over and add your card/art project and also become a member and follow that wonderful group!!!

Meanwhile see you back at Squigglefly's Blogspot Challenge and enter your project there.  You could be a winner twice - one never knows!   Good luck!

Squigglefly Challenge #14, SFC1414 Bright Spring Colors
Welcome to the Squigglefly Challenge Blog!

The challenge this week is called Bright Spring Colors.  Don't you just love how fresh and bright things look in Spring?  How about we translate those colors to our cards this week.  Your cards don't have to be spring in theme, just use some nice bright spring colors, which ever colors are your Spring Color Favorites.

Well I'm one of those people who always color up several of any particular image.  it's just easier for me I guess.  So Bubba Fish was colored up sometime back in spring colors in anticipation of a fun birthday card for a really young one, but it sat in my Squigglefly image folder waiting for a day to be published.  Today is the day!

Come join us at Squigglefly's Challenge and show us your colors - your spring colors that is!!!

ANY DIGI GOES - Doodle Pantry DPDC45

Don't forget our Military - they are still in action.

Doodle Pantry is sponsoring Operation Write Home with a great sketch and the combo of Doodle Pantry and OWH just drew me into it.  Our group SCRAPBOOK PLACE also sends hundreds of cards to the military every year, so we are not without practice in dealing with cards.  The biggest NO NO is "no glitter" whatsoever.  We don't want our military walking out into the combat glowing with glitter!!!   Here's my card (actually made 2 but will enter only the first one).

I used digi paper from this digi set, cut to fit an A2 card and pop dotted the inch worm and apple digi on top of the cover of the card.  Adding a few embellies.  Hid the ribbon staple with my Copic 100 coloring.  I now have 2 Thank you Cards ready to go!

Now the best part of this combination sponsorship of Doodle Pantry with Operation Write Home, is that if you enter the same card with a digi image from Doodle Pantry on it, you will receive this free digi back just for participating. And of course if you are one of the lucky ones, there are free digis awarded monthly.

Sharing Tea with Seems A Little Sketchy

Sponsored by Robyn's etFetish
Prize: 3 Digital Images
Check out this sketch - ooh lala - how fun!

And my 'take' on it:
My image came from Robyn's Fetish
and just so reminded me of spring and early summer with the sweet smell of flowers and a grand cup of raspberry tea sitting outside enjoying the sunshine and the birds singing.  Bring in my wonderful husband and we sit in the shade enjoying our retirement for 15 minutes!

I recently received a comment about how much time we probably spend together, and how he must be doing my housework since all of my involvement in card making.  The answer is no - retirement TO US is not meant to sit around idly and get fat and sloppy AND NO he would never do my housework w/o me being in the hospital or something!   We both are very vigorous people, at present cutting trees down and splitting them daily (much to the bewilderment of my surgeon)  LOL!  And yes I did have tendon surgery 3 mos. ago but it's far far from painfree.   But that's how much he influences me - that's our TEA together.

Come on over to Seems a Little Sketchy and follow the sketch as best you can and enter our wonderful challenge.  I'd love to hear you won something!

SPRING COLORS - SQUIGGLEFLY - check out the new launch!

SFC1414 HHH Use Bright Spring Colors
Interior of my card

This was such a precious image and when it launched on April 5, I just knew I'd use it for a spring challenge.  My husband and 3 of his brothers are all pilots, having built their own planes and have many 'war stories' of landing in hay fields around here.  Just about everyone you run into at the Farm and Fleet new store remember when Joe Weber would land his TaylorCraft behind the old building site to pick up construction supplies.  Farm & Fleet were so appreciative of his business and the fame he brought THEM, that they put a huge photo on the wall of Joe and his plane.  I've even gone up with Joe in the TaylorCraft - such a treat that reminded me of probably how many of the barn stormers felt!  My husband his brother both built 3 plans, purchased another TaylorCraft, as well as built and flew their own Gyro copter!  The gyro copter blade hangs horizontally over our shop door - a fantastic 22 feet of fiberglass.  Now think about that flying circular over the top of your head in flight!

My hubbie flies low these days building RC planes and sharing his hovercraft hobby with others.  We often have the local high school physics class tour our shop and ask hubby lots of aeronautical and wing in gravity questions.  Both my husband and his twin brother built the VERY FIRST WIG and flew it over the Mississippi and Wisconsin Rivers on lots of occasions.  I actually am the first woman to fly the same WIG (wing in ground effect) to 20 feet.  Not that long ago, but I'm glad those days are behind me.

Coming back from Fairbanks on our flight from Alaska recently, I broke an ear drum.  I swear I'll never fly again after that.  As for the guys and their accomplishments, the WEBER DREAM was an actual plane that won the twins notoriety at Oshkosh EAA and you can read about it here: .  There's even a cool photo of my husband and his twin brother in their much younger years.  So I will be using this image often I know.

Come over to the Squigglefly Blogspot Challenge and enter a spring colored card or art project preferably using one of the Squigglefly images.  There are freebies, and if your name is chosen, you are on the way to building your own digi collection.

Best of luck and see you there!

"U-G-L-Y You don't have an alibi - Use ugly (to you) paper and make it beautiful
IMAGE:  Cowboy Greetings

This was paper I was just never happy with - I believe it came out of one of those huge tablets of paper from way back when!  So along comes a challenge at Outlawz Greetings Challenge to take an ugly to me piece of dp and create something cutesy.

Shown about is the front page and the inside is next.  I loved the Cowboy Greetings image, but almost screwed up on him.  My glitter glue was not working well - so switched colors and save the card.

Come on over to OUTLAWZ GREETINGS CHALLENGE and take a piece of  UGLY TO YOU PAPER and enter our challenge!  See you there!

Today is a really rough day for as my surgery is really developed a great deal of pain in the bone where the bolt attached.  I called the surgeon and she says it's normal, but if it worsens to get in there!

So I'm browsing the internet and find this wonderful site from awhile back.  I have long admired this site - and occasionally entered an item or two.  Today's challenge really got me spreading my wings - had not thought of using a negative of a die cut on my cards.  So here is my final card front and inside.

I used an image called COWBOY GREETINGS from  CREATIVE BUG DIGIS.  Check out their website and enjoy all the cuties you can purchase and create with!

I am entering it in the SPEEDY FOX AND FRIENDS CHALLENGE 205.

Come over and join me in this one - simple and fun!  Have a great crafting day!

Today is one of our grandson's birthdays!  He's a whole 11 years old.  I thought perhaps this musical birthday card from STAMPIN' UP would be something special he could have for years.  He'd always be able to hear Grandpa and Grandma's HAPPY BIRTHDAY GREETINGS.

The image is Shy Bear-SNAIL MAIL BEAR Click on the link to see the image and grab one.  The very special image artist is Lynne Stansbery who has "ONLY" 446 images to choose from!  :)
