"Anything Goes"
This is my completed project - a DOUBLE HINGE CARD - very soon to be offered at THE PAPER CUT - my favorite card/paper place on the web and in Wisconsin!!!  I saw this pieced paperwork on another blog earlier this week and thought it would be pretty cool on a double hinge card and I love it.  The photo below is the card ALMOST closed.  The front pulls snugly together for mailing.
Below is another version of the same image on a DOUBLE HINGE CARD = I found some more turquoise and brown and wanted to just have fun.  In this instance tho, I accidentally placed the quilted card effect on the outside, I like it so I left it.
And following is the partially closed card again.
Come on over to OUTLAWZ GREETING CHALLENGE this week - the theme is ANYTHING GOES and another reason: I'm actually hosting my first challenge there!  Best of luck.  Just be sure to have a greeting or a simple word on it.  Jump on board for free prizes in the monthly drawing too!
And drop on by Sarah's place at THE PAPER CUT - there are card kits - project kits - beautiful papers - let her know I sent you.

A Fruity Day in March

The month of March has flown right by us.  I'm personally glad to see all the new spring buds sprouting all ready.  This winter left us with many challenges, even running out of fuel.  Goodby winter!

At Squigglefly Blogspot Challenge we celebrate creating cards with fruit on them.  Here are the facts from Rhonda's Rowdy Rascals: use fruit on your card--it can be your image or embellishments.   Here's my card and 3 others I colored and created at the same time.

I'm sure if you are like me, you have some fruity stamps stashed somewhere.  If they are of Squigglefly variety, you will be eligible to win some free digi stamp at the drawing.  We'd love to see your work - come on over!

PEACE - be with you!

Have you spread your wings a little bit lately trying new techniques?  One needs to do it, you know, just to keep growing.  Otherwise our minds become stagnant and refuse to let in the good stuff in life.  In part of my life I design samples for a wonderful company in northern Wisconsin called THE PAPER CUT.  Sarah, the sweetest gal in the world, asked me to make her some samples of the Funky Accordion Card.  Whoa Nellie!  Accordion cards?  Yeah, accordion cards.......not sure I can handle that task.  But alas I came up with 3 beauties I just love.

In the other part of my life I spend mega hours designing cards for a few design teams, one of which is our own beloved OUTLAWZ GREETINGS CHALLENGES.  Our sponsor at OUTLAWZ this week is Aurora Wings and the challenge is to use texture on your project.  So I chose the Peace Rose Digital Stamp (Aurora Wings) and proceeded to have some fun with my art.   The texture is done with my Big Shot and my embossing folders and distressed a bit with distress inks and a finger dauber.
You can ask my husband how many hours I spent in 2 nites working on those roses!  I love the Peace Rose.  One year when my eldest daughter was still at home and showing items in our county fair, she won a blue ribbon with the peace rose she grew!  And that hair - well that's another challenge for me.  But I think I hit it right (for now).

Come on over to OUTLAWZ and have some fun this week!  And check out Sarah at THE PAPER CUT and perhaps grab a beautiful digi like my peace rose above at AURORA WINGS.

I mentioned I had done 3 for Sarah - so here are the other 2.

Bye for now -have fun with your art!

Happy Artichoke Day! Just kidding, not sure there really is one!  I just love Artichoke Sprite and found her lots of fun to color.  The sketch is from Seems a Little Sketchy for today's most recent challenge.  You can see it's an easy sketch and you can use any digi or rubber stamp image you have on hand.

Here's the sketch:

SQUIGGLEFLY'S BLOGSPOT is having a great challenge today and it's hosted by Holley's Hobbyists!  Here are the details: Show me some polka dots somewhere on your card; This could be some polka dotted paper, some polka dotted item in the image, some polka dotted flowers, some polka dotted embellishments, etc.

My entry was a lot of fun putting together.  I just pulled stash and even a mirrored silver cardstock piece.  Some young fella will someday enjoy getting this with perhaps a gift of money inside.

Can you take time to join me at Squigglefly Blogspot today - use a Squigglefly shop stamp and be eligible for a grand free digi stamp set in the drawing held weekly.

This wonderful project came about as a request from my daughter for a baby shower she was heading up for a co-worker.  How wonderful - babies!  I love the smile, the cooing, the smell - so am very happy to create a cute card.
Interior along with an extra gift tag that opens!

I found a coloring book page on the net about Winnie and did some photo page work to bring it down to size.  I also used a larger card and envelope size from THE PAPER CUT - beautiful cardstock.  You must visit and try out their white papers for copic coloring!

And as a special sentiment, I found it online also but couldn't find anywhere to purchase it or download it so just copied it with credits.

Thanks for visiting.  Guess if it's a boy or girl!!!  Hug a kid today!

Button Up a Ribbon!

BUTTON UP with RIBBONS at SQUIGGLEFLY CHALLENGE BLOGSPOT!  This challenge gave me the unique opportunity to begin making up musical birthday cards for all the grandchildren - 10!!!  I purchased the cards from Barb at Stampin' Up while they were on sale.

With this week's challenge I chose Shy Bear's HI BELLA to be the cover of the first 2 birthday cards in March.  The image is ABSOLUTELY FREE TO YOU by our wonderful Lynne Stansbery of SQUIGGLEFLY and the sentiment banner image can be purchased from SQUIGGLEFLY's shop. That image is from our one and only and a great friend PAMELA LEHTO.  Keep scrolling and you'll see the interior of the cards where my husband I will record a 10 sec. msg. for the kiddos.

Theme: St. Patrick's day/use Green on your project

OH WOW - St. Patrick's Day is here!  Even tho I'm in no way Irish, we still celebrate around here with the old fashioned corned beef and cabbage and trimmings.  Oh yummy!

Well you can see that the challenge at Outlawz Greeting Card Challenge is of that glorious color green!   I chose a wonderful image from Lacey Sunshine.

I've never had the privilege of working with Heather Valentin's stamps but I now am totally enamored.  Such sweet little images with lots of room for copic coloring,  My image is called:
Honey Spring Bee Buggmee.

Come over to OUTLAWZ GREETING CARD CHALLENGE site and enter a card/art project with green in it.  While you are there take a look around at all the wonderful projects the design team members have posted.  I'd love to see you there, and I know I'd love your work.  Have a beautifully green Shamrock Day!

Our Earth Laughs in Flowers

Today at Squigglefly's Challenge Blogspot, you'll find a totally fun challenge of using flowers somewhere on a card or art project.  This can be IN your image, as embellishments, paper flowers, floral brads, floral die cuts, flowered paper, any flowers you want to share!

I have been wanting to practice with the SUNBURST or STARBURST technique of forming card fronts.    So I placed Pamela Lehto's "EVEN TODAY" Sentiment on the front where the bursts all meet and added some coordinating flowers, beads and stickpin.

Sentiment Artist: Pamela Lehto

For anyone wanting to try the sunburst technique, here's a great you tube video to get you started.

Til next week, I hope to see you visiting Squigglefly and joining in on the drawing!  You can win, you know?  Just gotta enter.

DOUBLE WOW!  What wouldn't you give to win the following!
Here's how............
Take this sketch and any image you want to use - rubber stamped or digi or clipart and challenge yourself to work with the sketch. Create your project.
Now come on over to SEEMS A LITTLE SKETCHY and enter your project!  Here's mine and I used an image "BOOGIE BOARD OWEN" from The Paper Nest - they have awesome images to choose from!
This was quite fun in fact. My daughter just got back from the Riviera Maya and she totally inspired me with the colors and paper.  My bg paper is one 6x6 of designer paper cut to fit a 5 3/4" card in its finality.  I sliced off the bottom portion of the color coordinated back of the paper and slipped a bit of dark blue between the 2 pieces.  That dark blue actually came from the layer at the back.  Grab some misc. embellies, distress the edge of the oval, and what little boy wouldn't love to receive this in the summer for his birthday!

Come join me at Seems a Little Sketchy - NOW!

Coffee and Friends - The Perfect Blend!

Are you like me or know someone like me who just can't start the day without a mug of coffee - straight black but decaf!  My day is on the go after that.  This week at OUTLAWZ Monday Greeting are challenging us to represent the theme of coffee and friends.

I chose to use an image from Guylou's Inimitability titled:  Lotus Studying 2...
Do you remember when you had to hit all the books first thing in the mornings in prep for a test that day!  Wow, I do and it's been almost 50 years ago.  Altho I relished school and as many books as I could handle, I do remember the stress of tests vividly.  Well hopefully our cup of latte will help pop some eyes open here!  I colored everything with my copics and used some dp of school items to bring the effect together.  And recently my daughter has started using hash tags in her convos on FB.  Well guess it's bleeding over on me because all I could think of for a sentiment on this card was:  #needanotherlattenow !!

Come on over to OUTLAWZ MONDAY GREETINGS and enter a card.  The drawing this week consists of five free images:    Guylou's(3 Images) Scrapper's Delight(2 Images)

Remember the theme: Coffee and Friends the perfect blend.  Have a cup of latte on me today!

Monday, March 3, 2014

I have some wonderful news I'm  just bursting to share with someone, so why not my faithful friends.  Last week the gals at OUTLAWZ Challenges asked me to join the Design Team for the Monday Greetings Group.  I need not tell you I was ecstatic and am already having fun posting my very first card.
This digi image and diamond card layout came from NICECRANE!  Oh what wonderful people there, and I am totally in love with all their designs. If you haven't done a diamond fold, check out SplitCoast Stampers for a few wonderful tut ideas.

Sponsors this week at OUTLAWZ are: DS4J (2 Images) and The Stamping Chef (3 Images) and NiceCrane.  (Wouldn't you love to have your card/art project in a drawing for 5 free images!)

The theme is:Music to my Ears: (Create a project using the title of your favorite song as the Sentiment) I chose "DAYDREAM" - by Lovin' Spoonful (1966).  Hmmmmm, perhaps I dated myself there.  That was 2 years after I graduated from high school and I remember the group vividly!

What a day for a day dream,
What a day for a day dreamin' boy.
And I'm lost in a day dream,
Dreamin' 'bout my bundle of joy.
And even if time ain't really on my side,
It's one of those days for taking a walk outside.
I'm blowing the day to take a walk in the sun,
And fall on my face in somebody's new mowed lawn.
I've been havin' a sweet dream,
I've been dreamin' since I woke up today,
It's starring me in my sweet dream,
'Cause she's the one that makes me feel this way,
And even if time is passin' me by a lot,
I couldn't care less about the dues you say I got.
Tomorrow I'll pay the dues for dropping my load.
A pie in the face for being a sleepy bull toad.
And you can be sure that if you're feelin right
A day dream will last a long time into the night.
Tomorrow at breakfast you may prick up your ears,
Or you may be dreamin' for a thousand years.

SQUIGGLEFLY'S BLOG has a wonderful challenge going on this week, challenging you to create a card using one of their images and 2 of your favorite colors.
 RRR-SFC0914-use your two favorite colors

Well I must admit I love all colors, but I do have a passion of closeness with turquoise and browns.  I did a little fussy cutting to allow my sentiment to remain attached to the image, used a few flowers and a butterfly and pearls, along with lace and some triple mounting!  Let me see what colors you like - join us at  Squigglefly's challenge this week.   There are free images for you at Squigglefly's website, just click here!  Meanwhile, have a great week coloring!!!
