SFC3013 - Squigglefly's New Challenge - Piece me or Pierce me!

SQUIGGLEFLY is debuting a new artist this month!  Judith Hart will be joining us - and her images will be released August 3rd.  I have the lovely opportunity to give you a peek into her image world with BEARY BRITISH SUMMER.
BEARY BRITISH SUMMER - Judith Hart (artist)
IN MY HEART SENTIMENTS - SQUIGGLEFLY (artist)(new as of 8/3)

The challenge this week to either do a Paper Piecing or Paper Piercing....or if you are super creative, do both!

I chose to use some bubbles that I had created for another card with 'water' on it as well as some paper scraps.  Then I chose some fun paper buttons my friend  Sue makes.  I tried to highlight the paper piecing around the mat part of the image on the grey pp.   Some gems and wallah.

I hope you join us at Squigglefly Blogspot and join in on this challenge.  Please be sure to use a Squigglefly image from the store so you will be eligible for the drawing.  There are FREEBIES on the website also.  No excuse not to use one.  :)  If you think you have all the freebies, have you checked out the little fairy just added? She's a doll!

Have a great summer day wherever you be!

CLEANING THE HOUSE OF CARDS!

All images are from the FRED SHE SAID STORE (click!)!!! I finally had some time to clean out my extra colored images and start making some cards up.  The snowflake and tree diecut are from my wonderful gf Carolyn!  Aren't they gorgeous.  I had some extra card backs made up and several are of Christmas and winter items, so the lamp and poinsettia went great on it.  Added some glitter around the diecut on an A2 card.  If you would like this image, just click here:  LANTERN AND POINSETTIAS

This next image is the little boy empty pockets shrugger digi set.  It's located here:
This card is quite different and comes from having a lot of extra scrap on hand.  It's a 6x6 card that the top opens up with the little boy attached and you simply add a note under the flap.  The card otherwise does not open like a normal card.  Check both images.
Following are two Happy flowers and Rainbow STAMP SET images - using one 6x6 card with paint chips attached and stitched around as well as a 5.5x5.5 card.  Both are meant to sent a lovely note with lots of room for writing.
Check out the FRED SHE SAID blog/store site and find yourself a fun stampset to start with.  Digis are very fun to use.
If you need some info on how to use digis or why they save you money, check out my friend, Holly's video here:

Have a great day!

COME HERE OFTEN?

The challenge at that wonderful SQUIGGLEFLY BLOG today is:  add something embossed to your card, it can be any of the wonderful backgrounds that have embossing in them, any of the spellbinders that have embossing, any brass stencils that use dry embossing, or add a great embellishment or cardstock that already comes embossed.  Wow, does anyone NOT have anything with embossing on it anymore!  Here's my 6x6 card - not sure yet if it will be for a birthday boy - most probably!
SFC2813 Holley Hobbyists Emboss me

When I was a child I remember my uncle Wayne taking us (4 siblings) to the local sundae shoppe in downtown Lone Rock WI - looked a lot like this!  Sweeeeeeet memories!

And thank you my gf Mary for the awesome scooter and helmet embellies.  I myself ride a 50 cc and wear a helmet all the time.  It's wonderful when I ride to town to talk with the little kiddos also wearing their helmets - even tho they don't want to!  I hope I help them understand big people wear them too!

Come over to SQUIGGLEFLY BLOGSPOT and enter your card - take a chance on winning a free image stampset - just be sure to use a Squigglefly image - there are freebies available.  A new one was added last week - CLICK HERE!

And you have a sweet summer day - ya hear??

SENDING HAPPY THOUGHTS EVEN THO MY POCKETS ARE EMPTY!

I do hope you will ready this entire post - it's a bit lengthy because I am showing someone who asked me how to do it - and taking pics along the way.  So stick with me - and maybe make one yourself.  If I can do it, anyone can do it!  This sweet gal is from the
EMPTY  POCKETS SHRUGGER DIGI SET
and there are over 20 pieces to the set.  Click on the link to be taken directly to the set in the FRED SHE SAID STORE.

And I'm making a tea bag holder or one could use it to enclose a couple gift cards, or whatever.
You will basically need  embellishments and adhesives as well as an image.  I found this tut over at Splitcoast Stampers eons ago.  So I'm copying my worn out sheet.  ;)

Plain Cardstock - 4" x 9"
Patterned Paper - 7.5" x 8"
3.75" square cardstock for front panel
3 5/8" square patterned paper for front panel
I will add a Happy Day or Get Well image depending
on whom I send it to.

Score your 4" x 9" cardstock at 4" and 5". Fold the score lines and set to one side.
Score the pp at 0.5" and 4" on the 7.5" side. Fold the score lines. Using double sided tape or other adhesive adhere the 0.5" strip to the other side.
You now have formed the pocket of the card/gift.
Score at 3 3/8" and 4 3/8" and fold the score lines
Using a circle die or a punch (I didn't have a punch) cut out half a circle on each end of the pouch.
You can see I taped mine to my cuttlebug cutting plate so as not to damage the pouch.
 Tadah!  The result!
Apply adhesive to the spine and adhere to the inside of your cardstock.
I did remember to keep my heart pattern right side up!
Add a good length of ribbon now - I taped mine to the front because I will lay a pp and the image over this.
Taping up the pp for the front.
I was wondering what I would ever use the fabric paper for - it's pretty and slightly see thru!
It's adhered tightly and waiting for the image now!  And embellies!
Now you just add your tea bags or whatever and tie and mail it in an envelope.  It will actually lay flat in the envie also.

Here's another I did using an image from Doodle Pantry!
And I do hope you have a happy day!

A VERY SPECIAL HOP!

Thank you for joining us for the Squigglefly 'Shy Bears' Blog Hop. This hop is dedicated to Melissa Chettle and her son Justin. Melissa was a friend of Squigglefly Design Team member Charlene. She died very unexpectedly at the end of June, at 43 years young!

At the end of April, Melissa asked Charlene to make her a bunch of Shy Bears cards - any image, any theme, any colours . . . just Shy Bears because she loved them all! (In case you're not familiar with them, Shy Bears http://www.squigglefly.com/index.php/shop/category/17 are a creation of Lynne Stansbery's, a fabulous artist at Squigglefly. There is a whole section in the store, with so many fun images!)

Melissa didn't get the chance to see the cards that Charlene made but we wanted to support Charlene in her request to dedicate this hop to Melissa. Melissa, here's to you . . . R.I.P.   I have chosen the SHY BEAR - IF THE SHOE FITS in memory of Melissa.  What lady doesn't love to go shoe shopping!  But I'm not sure about Mama Bear putting on that pump and walking???!!!
 The reverse digi image.
Charlene has listed more info about Melissa on her personal post. Please visit all the blogs and be sure to leave a comment as well as your email addy so we can contact you.

Melissa's 'loves' were:
reading (AVID reader!)
candles - she burned them all the time and LOVED them
her son Justin (16 yrs old) - not a sports kid but avid video game player
her afghans and donating them
her grandmother who lost her husband ~ 2 yrs ago
her aunt - they had prayer time every morning and her aunt built miniatures (house-type projects with the most incredible and amazing detail)
helped with her boss' daughter's charity - he lost his daughter at 9 yrs old
her friends were everything to her and she didn't have many close ones
She gave and gave and gave and never wanted recognition - she did it for the true sense of giving

There is a wonderful prize of any three shy bear images to someone who visits and comments on all the blogs in the hops.  So be sure to leave your email addy so the winner can be contacted.  The WINNER of the blog hop will be announced MONDAY morning  (July 15) at the same time as the winner for the weekly challenge, in the same location as the weekly challenge winner gets announced.

THANKS SO MUCH FOR ALL YOU DO

As some of you know who follow me, my wonderful buddy Chumley went to Cat Heaven in June; he was equal to over 100 human years but up to the last 3 weeks no one would've guessed it!  But he is very sadly missed - there is no other cat who could even compare to his personality and love and hugs he would give.

But I found this cuter than cute cat angel image at Squigglefly's store and just wanted to use it! So SQUIGGLEFLY BLOGSPOT is having a challenge consisting of a thank you card and I NOW have the wonderful image of a cat angel!  I decided to make up an extra one for Chumley's scrapbook album of his life with us also.
RHONDA'S ROWDY RASCALS is challenging you to a very simple challenge - just make up a Thank You card for someone special using a Squigglefly image.  Here's the stats:

FRED SHE SAID HAS HUMMERS!

July is such a treasure month for a great variety of birds to visit the backyards and feeders.  We have more birds this year than ever and so many fledglings it's surprising.  So for my first card for the month of July for FRED SHE SAID, I chose the hummingbird visiting the petunia.

I printed the images twice and did some fussy cutting around the hummingbirds and the petunias and then pop dotted everything to give it some height.  The edges of my spellbinder are distressed with charcoal ink for a bit of an added effect.   I also raised the entire die cut off the card for even more depth.

The entire layout comes completely colored for you, or you can use the bare images and color them yourself as well.  But using the precolored images makes it so easy; you can see how I created 4 colors all using 4 different color themes.
And that actually means you have no excuse not to make your own cards, right?  :)  Enjoy crafting; come on over to FRED SHE SAID and grab an image and try it.
Just click on WEE HUMMINGBIRDS above and take a look around the FRED SHE SAID store and enjoy making a few cards this summer.  Show off your love of color just as the birds show it off to you each day.

SEEING STARS AND STRIPES!

Isn't it a great time of the year - the mere celebration of our country's freedom.  Of course add in all of the fireworks, carnivals and ball games across the land, and you will feel just like I do creating this wonderful card for some soldier in our armed forces...JUST TO SAY THANK YOU!

DOODLE PANTRY has this wonderful freebie on their site - available to YOU NOW! - and it comes with sentiments, designer paper and image stamps.  And of course if you know me, there is a challenge involved as well.  But it's a good thing.  Just create a card or project using one of their images - not just a sentiment tho - you have to actually use one of their images.  I have a lot of them.  Get into their drawing for a prize and also receive the free set of sentiments shown on the page.  Check it out - will you??

Doodle Pantry Digital Challenge 36
The code words to use:  DPDC36

I used an A2 horizontal side for this card.  Matted their free star digi twice.  I printed the paper in just the 4.25x5.5 size so as not to waste my ink.  Cut that in 1/2 and positioned it on my blue background.  Added some cute star charms that Pat. M. rakked me and some buttons from the old BUTTON UPS packages I have around STILL!  Easy peasy - now I'm going to make several more and send to my friend Mel who will package up many more cards and send off to the troops.

Have a Happy 4th!!!!

DEADLINE is July 24th at 8 pm central!  Winners posted the next day!
Come join me!

WHERE'S THE PARTY??? Allie knows...and so does her bunny!

Are there any purple lovers out there?  Remember the PURPLE PEOPLE EATER!  Well that dates me, for sure, sorry.  But my friends at SQUIGGLEFLY BLOGSPOT have chosen the color purple for a real fun challenge.  Here's the scoop:

You don't *have* to include a Squigglefly image on your creation, but in order to qualify for the prize you will need to use one! You can also combine SF images with non-SF images to qualify! Don't have one? There are several FREEBIES you can grab from the Squigglefly store  Just click that link and hop on over there. Those images will qualify you for the prize.

I chose Allie And Her Bunny for this challenge.  Isn't she the sweetest thing holding that oh so cuddly big bunny!  You can find Allie And Her Bunny at the Squigglefly Store by clicking on the link of her name. And whilie you are there take a look at some of the other creations of Cheryl Grant Alger, Allie's creator.  You'll fall in love with her style for sure!

And from WIKIPEDIA comes the fun fact behind the "Purple People Eater".  The song tells how a strange creature (described as a "one-eyed, one-horned, flying, purple people eater") descends to Earth because it wants to be in a rock 'n' roll band. The premise of the song came from a joke told by the child of a friend of Sheb Wooley's; Wooley finished composing it within an hour.

The voice of the purple people eater is a sped up recording, giving it a voice similar to, but not quite as high-pitched or as fast, as Ross Bagdasarian's "Witch Doctor", another hit from earlier in 1958; and "The Chipmunk Song" which was released late in 1958.  And now I will be singing this over and over in my head for days!

SEEMS A LITTLE SKETCHY and FACEBOOK - have you been there yet?

Sponsored by Kenny K Downloads
Prize: 3 images

This is the sketch we are using this week on the SEEMS A LITTLE SKETCHY FACEBOOK.....have you been there yet?

Here's my rendition using the 3 images from Kenny K's Designs:

I shrunk the images to about 2x2 and colored with copics; then some double mounting with some fun paper and some precut paper lace.  I found that cute sentiment on Ginger's House a long time ago.  So then I cut out some of the words from another sheet and plopped them over the top of the layout.  The entire card is a 6x6.

Come on over to SEEMS A LITTLE SKETCHY and participate in the blog challenge going on now!  Just click the link.......and have an awesome day!
