Having a birthday on April 1st is always challenging to the lucky celebrant.  My husband has a brother born on April 1 and I have a great grandson born on April 1st who will be 10.  I decided to make the cutest happiest card I could muster up as well as enter it into the Doodle Pantry challenge this month.

This darling happy bird can be found as a freebie on the Doodle Pantry site.  Just click on that link!

I colored up the springy fella thinking with copics, did a die cut and edged it in worn lipstick, as I did the background, which is actually 2 pieces from a BoBunny Celebration packet.

Come join us at Doodle Pantry and get a freebie just for joining in.  But get there and get it done before March 24.  Follow THIS LINK.

Are you a bird watcher? My husband I are.......of course it helps we don't have to drive to the city to work. So we maintain bird feeders all over our 5 acres of property, enjoying sitting back and watching who the newcomers will be. At present this week we have had a goodly amount of snow again and all the birds are literally depending and descending upon us. Between suet and bird seed we are both busy.
Well at FRED SHE SAID'S store there are these lovely precolored digis - I've chosen to make up a bunch of cards for 'grab in a need' card box. So often you know you need just a quick card to write a letter in to cheer someone up? Well, here you go. I chose the blue jay for 2 of the cards and showed what you can do by reversing stripes within the same background. Like it?
And last but never least is my beautiful cardinals. One year we counted 40 in one group - the weather was really bad that particular year. But this year our weather moderated a bit, and we are routinely getting 6 pair at a time. And combining the precolored image with various backgrounds, provides such a beautiful card, even I would be glad to receive back! :)

And be sure to check out the latest addition to the store - these gorgeous HAPPY FLOWERS perfect for spring and summer cheering up!
And remember that at FRED SHE SAID's Store you can always Get 10% off over $10, 20% off over $20 ALWAYS :)

SFC1113-RRR---Face The Music - make a card that depicts a song

I've been listening to Aaron Neville singing AMAZING GRACE - and many of his other gorgeous songs.  Here is the link for you on YouTube: AARON NEVILLE SINGING

While you are listening, you can be getting your card ready to join us in the Squigglefly FACE THE MUSIC challenge.  Just click on that link.   You could win a free stampset!

My card front is one of the new images at Squigglefly's store now, called MAISY MAY'S SILENT PRAYER by Diane Carubia.

I recently had a lovely visit from a friend I've only known on the internet, so am sending her a little thank you gift with this card.

came with a lot of other sentiments as well.  Jump on that link and take a look at the sentiments for Easter!

Here is a picture slide show with Aaron Neville's rendition of WHAT A FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS.

Well now I'm going to work on Easter cards.

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8 KJV)

Get a look at this fun sketch! I love sketches - they take the work out of card only needs to keep ample stash on hand! And I NEVER go to a store if I don't have the right paper - make it myself if I can!

All of my work is done with copics, stickles, distressed inks and papers and flowers/gems from my stash.

Now strut your stuff on your own LillyPad with any image you wish, just be sure to use the sketch to a degree where it can still be seen, and send a little wish up for a winning bunch of free images!
DID YOU KNOW THAT "FROG" is an acronym for FULLY RELY ON GOD...and I do!

This year I'm taking hubby out for brunch somewhere. It would've been nice to hide baskets and eggs all around our property for the great grands, but their plans are not working out as for coming our direction. Luckily, Pammie L. of Scrapbook Place has put us all in the mood with a sketch that can perhaps help you make more Easter cards.
So I peeked into my stash of Easter papercrafts from Easters past and found some goodies to work with - didn't even have to get the stamps out!  I also found this gorgeous green metallic paper I've been waiting to use on the perfect projects, and that project is here!

I made up 3 cards very similar to each other and am smitten with the following 6x6 mounted 3 times  to send to a special friend.  I think I should have distressed the background of the crown of thorns and perhaps also the lace.  What do you think?
Here are the other 2 cards and I'm encouraging you to take the challenge at SBP CHALLENGE BLOG and use the sketch to create a project.  you have until March 31.  Come join the fun!

Check out some of the other entries NOW!

I was in dior need of more birthday cards - CAN NEVER HAVE ENUF!!!  And I found these addorable images of Nolan and Emma at FRED SHE SAID'S STORE! The set is called EMPTY POCKETS SHRUGGER and contains A LOT - both boy and girl images and lots of sentiments!  I just have to share with you what I did for 2 of my 4 cards I made.  (I tend to make things in groups rather than just 1 card.  How mundane would that be!)

Interior of Card 1
Just look at those pulled inside out blue jean pockets - isn't that the cutest image!  Tracey does such an awesome job with her characters, it's total fun to add life to them.  And if they are precolored, how much easier can it be.  But these were definitely colored by ME!   The cards are all 6x6 and matted.   My coloring of course is with my copics - I just love using them and am always needing more refill ink!
Front of Card 2
Well here's another little sweetie to introduce you to.  The cool thing about these images is indeed the ease of color coordination with various bg paper pads I have.  The background on both images is indeed precolored and is in FRED SHE SAID'S STORE for FREE!  It's about 1/2 way down the page just click HERE!

This awesome digi is so perfect for Easter cards for young and old alike.  I love the detail Diana Garrison has put into the image, made it so fun to color with my copics.  And don't forget, that since it's a digital stamp, you can resize for any size card or tag - hence an Easter Basket???  :)  Oh my, she has so many digis that could be used for any holiday or just any theme!  You MUST come over and try one of hers and let me know your thoughts.

You can find this digi at Squigglefly's Shop (click)........please come and enter our digi stamp giveaway by placing your entry with a Squigglefly digi stamp into our challenge HERE!

Last weekend my girlfriend from Des Plaines, IL, surprised me with a visit.  It was really supposed to have been a romantic get away with her hubbie, or as I understood, but it simply was a "gotta go support my girlfriend in her crisis" weekend........and hubby was in on it!  I still can't believe it.

Anyhow while we were in the sunroom looking out at the many many birds flocking around the feeders, a chickadee came up close to the window and Pat had a chance to see it!  She couldn't believe her eyes!  I guess they don't get many in Des Plaines because of the city atmosphere.  Here in the country we strive to keep the birds flocking year around.  My husband says I'm afraid I'll find a dead one - well maybe!

So today I put together 10 different cards from my stash just to get them out of the way!  2 of them were chickadees and I immediately thought about Pat and her shout of glee at seeing one.  So here is my 6x6 creation using a FRED SHE SAID image found here:  WINGED THINGS!
This image WINTER CHICKADEE is already precolored; however, you get the digi image and the precolored image as well for one price.  I chose lots of fun background colors for this card and used some beautiful sheer ribbon I had on hand.

Now to the embarrassing moment!  I was so tired one day this week - on my new meds - that I sat down for a nap under my afghan.  Hubby took this picture; unbeknown to me, my TinkerBelle had jumped up and was warming her self on top of mine.  I never felt a thing!
So hope you come on over to FRED SHE SAID and try out one of the stampsets - especially those that have both precoloured images and color yourself.  You can always beef up the color if your printer isn't doing it's best.  I'm using a pretty simple HP and the color is fantastic.  So have a great day!

Tonite as I sit here typing away quietly; outside the wind is stirring up a lot of trouble. Schools are already closed for tomorrow, we're all checking the exterior doors to the out buildings/shops, and I have prefed (is that a word?) my birds extra in their feeders. This is a good year for cardinals. We usually have at least 10 (5 pair) in the front yard feeders and I have no idea how many feed around our 10 upper feeders in the woods.
I do love the beauty of a cardinal, whether it's sitting on a bird bath or perched in my pussy willow tree awaiting its turn on the ground around the feeders.  They definitely are ground feeders but do not hesitate to steal lovely sunflower seeds from the hanging feeders when all is clear.  And unlike the woodpeckers which can hang close to the underside of a branch in the presence of a hawk, my beautiful cardinals often get singled out for that feast.  And I get frustrated!  I cannot tolerate a hawk of any size.
Well about my 6x6 card - as you can see I chose wintry almost Christmas like papers for the bg.  A lot of mounting and a few jewels and beautiful sheer ribbon, and it came together beautifully.  I also chose to miniaturize the same scene so I could have an insert for a quick note to a friend.  I could also make up note cards in a set of wintry birds as a gift for a friend - wallah!  Going off to do that now!

Come on over to FRED SHE SAID and enjoy a bit of shopping with a great discount ALWAYS!  Prices are extremely reasonable - there is beauty around every page with all the artistry!

WOW, Cheryl Alger is at it again!  I just adore her images because they are fun to color and always remind me of something in childhood.  This one is called A PENNY FOR YOUR THOUGHTS and is at Squigglefly's store, if you just click on that link.

The challenge is to use ribbon in some way OTHER than tying it in a bow.  I took spring spring colors after debating whether to go birthday or spring......and after today's huge snowstorm it was not problem - WE WANT SPRING!

She's colored with copics also - I kept her clean and simple with just a faint outline around the image and some grass.  I let the shading do the talking on this one.  Added a bit from my stash and wallah, I have a beautiful 6x6 to go any way I please with it!
So come on over to the SQUIGGLEFLY BLOGSPOT CHALLENGE and possibly win yourself YOUR CHOICE of a stamp set.  And don't forget that all thru the month of March, there is a fantastic sale of 15% off all your purchases - just use the discount code "spring15".

Delicious Doodles and Seems a Little Sketchy!

Here is a great sketch - you will want to use over and over.  I literally measured my pieces out on the sketch so there is no guesswork on my part.  I  also keep my sketches in a binder for future reference.

Delicious Doodles is our sponsor - and below are my 2 images I chose to make cards from.

Oh my, I love zebras.  They are totally unreal with their coloring!  And this little sweetheart of a foal would make a great Mother's Day card.  Or just a caring card for a friend.  She'll love it.

Irises are my favorite flowere - I have lots of them around my house and I keep a very special brown one near one of the doors so I never miss it during its short blooming period.

So come on over to Seems a Little Sketchy Blogspot and join in the challenge.  Merely follow the sketch.

And have an awesome day!

March 1, 2013 Challenge Theme: Egg-Zactly Speaking

EASTER seems so early this year, but I guess I'm just busy everyday or something.  Easter is such a lovely time to slow down - enjoy your family, your faith and renew yourself.  Easter will be a bit lonesome for us this year; usually my best friend and former sil comes to our house if the entire family is not meeting at her apartment complex.  But she passed away in Feb.  Such a wonderful person who shed so much light on life in general.  She was special, she had special ways, I always enjoyed our conversations on Sat.  Sometimes if her guardian had come that day and taken her shopping, she would call me that nite with exuberance in her voice.  Anytime shopping was like the first time for her!  I was happy to have had her company with others on Thanksgiving and Christmas.  On Thanksgiving eve as we drove home, I purposely drove past homes that had Christmas lites up already and she was so thrilled.  That was Doris - full of love for everything.  Early in November I had put my decorations and tree up early for planned visitors and was telling her; and she at that time totally shocked me and asked if I thought it would be ok if she didn't put up everything like she always did.  I told her I'd be glad to spend a day putting the tree and decorations up for her, but she truly didn't want to.  Just an inkling that perhaps her celebration would come soon with our Lord.  Our time was too short and I wish it could have been more.

I chose a piece of clip art I have in my beloved treasury!  My husband was a pilot and we still love flying lower to the ground in our hovercraft.  And he does a lot of RC flying - building all his own airplanes.

Come on over to Scrapbook Place Challenge Blog and join in our easy challenge - Egg-zactly speaking!

And have a wonderful week!

Let's Monkey Around

Is this sweetie just a knock the shoes off your feet image!  His hands form a heart so I placed a heart button there.  He's colored with copics and a bit of fussy cutting and pop dotting make him stand out.

Now for the background.  I was reminiscing about some of the things we used to use in our crafts like pop top tabs, paint chips, etc.  I have a couple of those long books of paint chips just begging to be made up.  I cut a similar size strip and attached to a 6x6 background and flipped it over and added adhesive on the back and attached to the cs front.  A pretty piece of ribbon with lots of 1s kind of lends a bit of surprise to the card.

This fella is going to be 11 on Monday - he's our grandson from Waunakee!  And I know he'll adore it with some cash in it too.  Try something new or old, make a card using Squigglefly stamps - either free or purchased.  Don't forget you earn points everytime you buy stamps from Squigglefly and better yet, there is 15% discount on all stamps thruout the month of March.  Just use the code:  spring15.
