Another special day in my life as I join the FRED SHE SAID DESIGN TEAM as of today. I love challenges but am very picky about where I apply to help out, and at this point, I have the best in my life - SQUIGGLEFLY, SEEMS A LITTLE SKETCHY, SBP CHALLENGES, and FRED SHE SAID. I look for quality and DT appreciation, and all of these gals have just that! I also have to decide how much time do I really have as I'm also an owner/moderator of SCRAPBOOK PLACE on yahoo.
Front view - images are popdotted. Corner Marigolds are gut from digi paper provided with stampset.  Card is a 6x6 and yet flat enuf to mail for normal postage rates.  :)
Side View to show lifted areas of butterflies and flowers and designer faceted buttons.

I made this card especially for a lovely friend I met in 1964 thru my first marriage of 23 years - my ex husband's sis.  She loved the butterflies and flowers and birds of this world.  We showered her room for it all in hospice the past few days.   She left us on Feb. 22 for a better place where her aging body would return to young and her Savior awaited her to celebrate her next heavenly birthday.
There is a great party going on in heaven for sure for her!
Loved you Doris - and I will always miss you!

I can't believe it, but my husband's birthday is coming around again! You know for sure how men hate to celebrate birthdays, whether they are single, married, widowed or divorced! Well as long as I have my hands on this fella, he's going to have another grand birthday party! So I whipped up a really special card with optional sentiments - one I can post here, the other you'll have to email me to get it. :)
BY Our Friend Marlene S.
And one of the 2 sentiments for my guy - who will be 73!!!

I colored Fanny Bunny with copics and added glitter glue and stickles to the champagne.  The champagne digi was a freebie on the net around New Year's from 'somewhere'.

This is going along with Holley's Hobbyists's challenge at Squigglefly Blogspot Challenge.  Her challenge is simple:

Get in Shape-- make your card any shape but the standard A2 (1/4 sheet) retangle;  How about a circle, a tall card, a square card, a spellbinders cut card?  Surprise us....

So come on over to Squigglefly, enter a card using one of our images, there are lots of freebie and you can also just use a Squigglefly sentiment if you wish, and perhaps win yourself an awesome stampset of your choice!

I love bling - who doesn't love bling!  As my last project with OUTLAWZ as a Guest Designer, I've chosen the sentiment "Love is the beauty of the soul" (from Squigglefly's shop) and added lots of bling to a beautiful backdrop of designer paper I had in my stash.  With multiple layers, and a rhinestone bow, I think the sentiment is set off perfectly!
This is a typical 6x6 card which will mail in the postal system for the $.46 cent rate because I kept everything under 1/4 inch in thickness.  I'm constantly watching for ways to save money when mailing items these days.

Well, come on over to OUTLAWZ and join us in this week's challenge - BLING IT UP!!!  Just add some bling, glitter, rhinestones, etc. - whatever you have on hand.

Brenda is our lovely host on OUTLAWZ this week.   And I must say I've had a marvelous time with the girls and the projects and Chana's encouragement!  Come on over and join me this week, ok?

Love Birds at Squigglefly!

HI! From Squigglefly and their wondrous artist Diana Garrison!  These lovebirds are just the bomb FOR SIMPLICITY in creating and bringing the card together.  I chose a 6x6 card with lots of color against a black bg and just love the feeling.  I also did a 2nd at the same time to increase my supply:

So you can find the image HERE and more of this artist's treasures HERE!  Grab an image and come on over HERE to join in our SQUIGGLEFLY BLOG CHALLENGE!

UPDATE:  Just received my final 1 4 1 card in a swap at YOUR SCRAPBOOK PLACE!  And it's a treasure.  All you gals are so talented - you just keep me inspired!
 Thank you Pammie!

YOUR SCRAPBOOK PLACE has a monthly fun project that is optional to include yourself in.  For the year, if you sign up, you send a packet of queenly supplies and card to the lady who is the queen for that month.  When it's your month, you are showered by everyone else.  How cool can that get!

Tonite I received some really upsetting news about my sil, and after a good cry and turn to prayer, I decided to go to my craft room and found my Queen card I still had not finished.  So I finished it into a 6x6 with a step card front.  See below.

This sweetie was drawn by Marlene who used to be at Squigglefly.  I love her work, but truthfully, this gal challenged me.
So I chose to do a step type card in a 6x6 format.
I actually have a rubber stamp that says YOU ARE THE that made it a bit easier.  I kept the card simple but elegant - I really am not in the mood for lots of fluorishments tonite, so I put extra goodies in Naomi's package to make up for my mood.

I still like the VA VA VABOOM of the card!  Do you?

SQUIGGLEFLY is having an awesome challenge this week.  It's so easy, just create a project using a Squigglefly sentiment!
 Roann Mathias Image Artist

The title of this challenge is RRR-SFC0713-Use a Squigglefly Sentiment and I chose to use Roann Mathias' beautiful sentiment "DREAM CREATE IMAGINE which can be found on this LINK for only $1.50.  You can resize it to whatever you are creating.  My card is a 6x6 with multiple layering for emphasis.  I had some of this beautiful background floral paper and chose to use lots of bling to set it off.  Check out the link for Roann and see if there is something you'd love to create with.

So come on over to the Challenge and try your hand - free digis await the winner!

February amongst all other things is actually HEART AWARENESS month.  The challenge on the Monday Greetings at OUTLAWZ is to create a card with embossing and using reds.  I can say now that I truly am blessed to have the proper care I needed this month for my heart.

I've been having tremendous switches of speed my heart has been beating in - sometimes slow and then sometimes erratically fast for days at a time, and my blood pressure of course has caused some severe headaches as the bp has gone out of reach.  After being hospitalized  one evening for fainting and having this erratic heart beat with lots of pain this time, they found that I needed to have a stress test the next day getting my heart rate up to 130 bpm and watching the input and output of my heart to determine problems.

The left ventricle is stiffened (toughened) and unable to take in enough blood during the diastole period as it should.  The relaxing of the ventricle is super important but when blood pressure is super high and the beats are out of sync, it isn't relaxing and I feel pain - lots of pain and breathlessness because I'm not getting what I need.  So I've started on some major meds for the bp and had a heart catheterization as well.  There was no need for a stent or angioplasty, my cardiologist was very thorough.  He started me on a new heart med that actually expands your blood vessels both cardiac and brain.  He says I will live a long life yet.  This past week was a mean adjustment period for me with headaches everyday as the medicine introduced itself to my system.  I'm glad to be here and to have such low pressure now and really feeling great again.  My family is riddled with heart problems and makes me a high risk.

Well didn't mean to bore you - come over to OUTLAWZ and join in the Monday Challenge.  I'll see you there!

What a fun time I had using the sketch from Seems A Little SketchySquigglefly provided the images this challenge, so I chose this awesome cat called Bandit!  I mean I don't know a lot about cats - only have 3 of them - but I do know they love to play cat and mouse, and in this case cat and rabbit.

Come on over to see all of the new images at Squigglefly - check out this link for a whole ton of great digis!!!  And so many new artists.

Now pick any image from your collection and take this sketch and come on over to Seems a Little Sketchy and join us!

And leave me a guess as to who will win - the cat or the bunny!

Hope you had an awesome Valentine's Day!  I did!

Don't you just wish spring was here in its entirety!  I am soooooo waiting to see flowers and butterflies again!  This year on Feb. 10 I sent my daughter Shelly a vase of springtime flowers with some faux monarch butterflies - made her day!  So I've chosen to create this card from FRED SHE SAID and it's called MARIGOLDS AND MORPHO SETS.

It's a 6x6 mounted on a scalloped blank card front from a friend of mine.  I layered various papers and gems and thread chains.  I actually had to create the initial layer because the green I had left in my stash was too too bright.  So I used some suede pearl mist on it.  I used icicle stickles on the wings of the butterfly and a beautiful yellow liquid pearl drops on the centers of the marigolds.

The sentiment is Psalm 63:7 - one of my favorites for lifting me up some days!  Have a great week!

Ever Join a 1 4 1 Swap?

Our group called YOUR SCRAPBOOK PLACE has this swap going continually.  You merely sign up for 1 or 2 spots and make a card in the theme given to you for that month and send it to your partner.  I like to leave mine blank so they can reuse it.

I've signed up for 2 swaps and my other partner just sent hers out yesterday so it will be here on Monday undoubtedly.

Today I received this beautiful black/white/red card made by Deb F.  Isn't it beautiful?  And really when one looks carefully, this is an easily constructed card with any designer paper and stamps you may have.  Deb's blogsite

And meanwhile visit our group;s 2 blogspots - YOUR SCRAPBOOK PLACE AND SBP CHALLENGES which are all having fun challenges.

Gorgeous 1 4 1 Card made by Deb. F!

I really enjoyed this - I usually don't make St. Pat's Day cards - don't know why. But this was a great  challenge to get me to make up a few and surprise a few friends!  They would even make great birthday cards.
So I pulled out 2 12x12s and made up 4 beautiful (I think) Wearin' of the Green Cards.
Here is one:

I am so fond of Irish Setters, and this sweetie is gorgeous!  I sewed my edges down, added a few embellishments from my acrylic 'green' box (I have one for each color) and brought it all together with some green ribbon.  I hope you come on over to SBP Challenges and give us a chance to view your artwork too.  Remember all you have to do is use this theme, no other requirements.

Happy St. Patrick's Day (in advance) to you!

2 GREAT COLORS, THAT'S WHAT!  Wow what impact a person can have with them as your base!  So Holley's Hobbyists at Squigglefly this week have challenged us to use pink and black as a combo of colors on a card or art project!

I chose a darling image from Fawn Palmer - called MAW MAW'S BIG KITTY.  I think we all have seen big kitties in our life time - this image reminds me of a photo of my great granddaughter trying to carry her great aunt's cat Roscoe, his legs were hanging on the floor as she attempted to maneuver him.

So here are my two 6x6 cards.

Coloring with copics and shading with gold leaf pen and TH Distress Walnut.  BG paper from Basic Grey.

Make something using Pink and Black as a combo of colors.  Come play with us at SquiggleflyBlogspot.

This lovely 5x7 Valentine Card will welcome someone's smile when they open it.  I plan on putting loose die cut hearts within it also.

The images are from My Grafico - LADY LADYBUG STAMPSET: Seems a Little Sketchy has been asked to do some cards using the sketch below.  You will find the challenge on the SEEMS A LITTLE SKETCHY FACEBOOK PAGE (click).

Come LIKE us on Facebook!

The following sketch was our only requirement.

I also made another card (6x6) from the same ladybugs.

Have a sweet day - and look forward to an awesome Valentine's Day!

I chose Oct. 2012 by Jo Ham (I had 2 brides all colored and they weren’t doing anything but sitting there!) So this card was fun to case. I added a sentiment and changed the cs flourishes to pearls and tiny roses, and also used a Walton bg paper with the flowers already on it. the dress is highly sparkly but difficult to see.
Jo Ham Oct. 2012
The funny thing about this CASE I just have to share with you. I printed the direx out and put them on my craft room board. Didn’t look at them again except got very busy with finding the right photos. Something in my mind said I had to pick 2 cards to CASE – when in fact Chana had said pick 2 things to change!
My 2nd card from the first CASE.

So I chose 2 different cards and actually made up 4 different cards because I had images colored and waiting. So here's the 2nd card I CASE' Brenda Turner in Dec. 2012:
And my 2 cards with image changes and buttons:
And I now have added 4 more cards to my wonderful card box.  :)

The snowman and lightpost images are from Squigglefly and easy to handle.  The bride was from Kenny K images I believe.

A Valentine For "Ewe"!!

I am honored to be asked to guest design for The Outlawz Challenges for the month of February.  Maybe you could say I was 'shocked' to read the email.  Oh what fun.  Not me!  But then reality set in and Chana was serious!  :)

Well here we go with the first Greeting Cards Challenge for February - hosted by Penny.  BUGABOO is our sponsor so I chose Valentine Ewe from their wonderful digi collection.  Take a moment to check them out and get those Valentines done. You must use stitching either by hand/machine/or faux stitching somewhere on your project.  I used my machine and black thread.  I've also added Icicle Stickles as well as Liquid Applique and a glass coat in various areas from Ranger.  Coloring with copics (of course).....just love 'em!

To join in the OUTLAWZ CHALLENGE just click HERE and follow the links where to upload your card or project.

How the storm affected us:

On Dec. 20 the winds began blowing - we went into a full blown blizzard.  On the morning of 12/21 I caught a few pics as we dug our way out.  The worst part was that my hubbie and I both were helping a farmer with chores 5 miles away and we got stuck coming home.  We needed to call 911 and a grader to open our road - there was no way to even walk.  Total white out.  We sat in the car for 2 hours with plenty of gasoline and tried to keep warm.  But we were all wet and cold from trying to dig out.  I was never more miserable than that day!  if we could've walked home, I would've!

But anyway, I chose to do a quick layout of the photos from that storm.  Hope you can see all the lovely sparkly snowflakes I added.  I just created the collage on my computer and saved some dollars in doing that.

Our lovable Nikko is playing ball in the fresh snow - he totally entertains himself!

Hubbie is plowing the driveway for the 'nth' time!  And I was making hot chicken soup!  :)

It doesn't get any better than that for sure!
