by Fawn Palmer

Yes, this is usual for me - I never make one card - I always do 2 to 4 - and sometimes 12 cards at the same time.  So I created 2 slightly different Baby Bird Bathtimes for you.

Now think Pink and Blue - this week's new challenge at Squigglefly!  It's easy, isn't it, so why not join us in this challenge.  Pick a Squigglefly image (free or purchased) and start creating!  I want to get a lot of ideas from everyone who participates this week - it's kind of fascinating to me to create the majority of your project in 2 colors, similar to using just 1 color.

Anyway try it.  And don't forget that the end of this month is coming fast.  You have a few days left to purchase your IMAGE A DAY IN MAY at Sqjuigglefly.  Check it out, don't just ignore it.  It's beautiful new digis not yet shown and never will be priced so low again.  Less than $1 a day for great digis arriving in your email box every morning in May!

I'm ready, are you?

Mom's Day???

Ok, here is where I get up on my pedestal and do a little pounding on the heads of all those Hallmark people who created a day for Mother's.  Well didn't they realize a lot of women are NOT mothers - but are aunts/sisters/nieces - just women!  I proclaim this day, May 13, WOMEN'S DAY!  Be sure to send a card to a friend - a female friend! - and enjoy the day yourself.

I'm making up a few extra of these lovely orchids.  They are just awesome to color up.  It's a great image to purchase at Squigglefly shop.

The entire card is completed of leftover materials - the image was even given to me!  At one time I had stamped a bunch of smaller stamps and premounted them on black and have them stored in my album (by theme).  All the paper is years old but stored neatly and quietly and it's like having my own store at my finger tips and no gasoline involved in the trip!  Even the pearls are pifs from last year.  This is indeed a GREEN CARD for our Scrapbook Place Challenge.  Click that link and check the group's out!

Grab a free image at the shop and get into the challenge this weekend - anything for Mother's Day.  I hope I inspired you with the items I pulled from my stash to complete this!

Meanwhile have a great weekend!

A Place of Calm

What happens on Saturdays???  Of course first thing most people think of is a day off of work!  Well at Squigglefly Shop new images are being launched every Saturday.  You should really get into the habit of checking in during the weekend and letting those new images just tantalize your taste buds for new images!

This particular image (Park Entrance) launches on Saturday but I'm giving you a sneak peak!  It's totally easy and fun to color up and also to resize.  I've even thought of doing a monotone card with it - Lynne Stansbery is such an awesome iamge artist, it's difficult for me to ever bypass one of her images!

I've had a number of challenges lately, so found my perfect sentiment to go on this card.  Even if something isn't bothering you at the moment, the card will at least calm your inner turbulences!  The country or the northwoods are my places of calm.  We've had some beautiful camping spots in the north wilderness areas.  On days of turbulence, it's easy for me to go there in my mind and just take a moment of rest.  Perhaps as the sentiment says, it's God calming me, His child.

Many hugs and have a great weekend!  See you over at the Squigglefly blog challenge!

Launched at Squigglefly on Sat. April 14!!!!
This is also being entered into Outlawz distressed challenge GC41612

Isn't she a peach?  My great great grandmother and this darling little sweetie are very very similar.  I could not believe it when I put the image and the photo side by side!  And I'm sure in my great great grandma's days, either she or her househelp did her wash on a washboard!  Her husband was the judge of Richland County for over 10 years. I've included photos of both of my great great grams on Dad's side!  Just scroll down a little bit.

This card is a lovely 6x6 embellished lots of goodies from my stash!  I just wanted to really recreate that down home feeling in this card.  So I've used:
Buttons on the paper background (center piece)
5 Flowers
Brads - penny brad (I'm sure she found pennies in pockets of jeans just as I do today!)
Stickles (wash soap water bubbles)
Digi image
Embossed Laundry Room sentiment tag
Stitching (real stuff not faux)
Stickers - adhesive backed fluorishes
There are 4 really cute sentiments that come with this image and its reverse image - I have already made up 7 cards with her.  I just adore this bit of down home type of living.  Come on over to Squigglefly and grab a new image by Diana Garrison or this one by Lynne Stansbery or any of the 100s others or even a freebie and get into the contest this week!

These are photos of some of my ancestors who really did use a washboard!  :) Have a great wash day!

Grandmother Urania Fries (Dad's mom)
My dad standing with his Grandmother (his mom's mother)

Great Grandma Anna Jennings (Dad's mom's grandmother)
Great Great Grandma Margaret Fries (Dad's Father's Grandmother)

Home Again - by Diana Garrison

This weekend work by Diana launches at Squigglefly Image Shop.  I was privileged to acquire one of her images to color and make a project (card) from.  I tell you - I just had a great fun time coloring in the image with my copic pens!  To me her work reminds me of the Zentangle Doodle stuff hitting all of us like a craze!  Now this particular image was narrow and long so I used a 6x6 card and chose one of the sentiments that come with the image.  I had a bit of a time finding something to balance the card out so chose some sweet flowers and a leaf and added a silky white bow.  I could just as easily used a 4x6 and used less embellishments.  I did color 2 images at the same time (reverse images) so I will do the 4x6 for the other one.

I do hope you hop over to Squigglefly this weekend and see all the new artists' work!  You will be just awed at the beautiful work.
While you are browsing the store, pick up an image and join our yellow/orange challenge on the blog site at:  Squigglefly Blog Spot!

I took time out to enter one of Sassy Cheryl's challenges!  Her digis are so
danged cute - it's always fun to work with them.  This is the digi bunny and bird chit chat image.  I used a 6x6 with papers received from Carolyn one day, I gold leafed my frame, colored the images with copics, put my own Happy Easter sentiment in the window and had fun!

So why not join us in this weeks Soft Pastel challenge. You know you want to! Just link up your creation to your blog post or online gallery to Sassy CherylYou may enter only once, and may use any image in our challenge. However if you do decide to use a Sassy Cheryl image, you get two entries in our random drawing.  How's that sound.  Pretty good, huh!?!?!
So, come and play along.  Can't wait to see what you create.  Happy Pastel-ing!

Happy Easter!

by Image Artist Fawn Palmer

This wonderful image has 4 different sets you can use - and as I did with this one, I added my own sentiment to help me say Happy Easter everyone!  I wanted to convey lots of pastels and fun colors for Easter, as being painted by our lovely Lady in the skinny Jeans!  Remember the song by Conway Twitty - Baby's Got Her Blue Jeans On!  Loved that song!  Yah, I know it shows my age!  Well don't write me off yet, I just purchased the new album of Lionel Richie's called TUSKEGEE - and I'm still rockin' to that one!

WOW!  HAVE YOU HEARD THE LATEST??? One a Day in May is BACK! : )

Peace is flowing like a river,
Flowing out through you and me,
Spreading out into the desert,
Setting all the captives free.
I have a few favorite Christian hymns and this one is right at the top!  So meaningful.  This image was sent to me by my bud Mel from Louisiana.  I enjoyed coloring it - it was the peace within it I believe.  Enjoy your Easter - take a moment to recognize its meaning.

Peace be with you!

Image Artist Lynne Stansbery
(This definitely is the good stuff in life!)

I've deliberately tried to copy someone else's style.  When I was invited by my DT leader to 'case' a card I couldn't even imagine what she meant.  So a few questions and ideas later, I had my image chosen, colored and mounted on an A2 card.  Now I can't tell you who I cased, and I'm not sure I even did that sweet of a job, as her work is just out of this world, but I did make a great attempt!  Her style is CAS - another new term for me!

The Shy Bears are my favorites to design with - I just believe Lynne and I are on the same brain waves!  ;)

So pick out a free image and join our contest this week.  All the details are on the Squigglefly blog site!  Just click on that link.
