It's a Tag Bookmark and a Card

Tag Challenge #4
Card Challenge

This card and bookmark tag will be a real surprise for my avid book reader!  She loves birds and Emily Dickinson, so it just doesn't get any better.  Both will be entered in Joan's Gardens Challenge and the requirements are:
1.  Use Yellow and Green for your colors
2.  a piece of trim
3.  a frame to call attention to your focal point
4.  embossing (card background)
This time of year I love to watch the chickadees.  This poem with chickadees was framed to call attention to the poem.  A lovely piece of Recollections Trim was added, some cuttlebug quilled leaves, and with the embossed leafy background done with first chalk and then smoothed out with TH Tea Dye, I achieved that calm feeling about the card.  I also completed all 4 requirements of Joan's Gardens Challenge.
The bookmark tag has been mounted 4 times on lace I punched with a MS punch.  The little bluebirds and their love letters and mailboxes are all done in copics.  A bit of yellow ribbon added to keep the tag from disappearing inside the book as she closes it completes the project.

All entries are in Joan's Gardens Challenges.  The tag will be up for voting from Sunday evening thru Tues. morning.  The card set will entered into a random no. generator drawing.

Welcome to the 1st Scrapbook Place Blog Hop for 2011!

Welcome to the Scrapbook Place Blog Hop. If you just happened upon my blog, please go to Lindsy's beautiful blog and start there, if you arrived here from Annette's blog, you are on the right path.
As you hop along make sure you leave a comment because ONE lucky person will win a free snag from the Emerald board!

I needed a birthday card for this hop at Scrapbook Place and also for a birthday this coming month and since February means Valentine themes, I chose to put the 3 together.   The Valentine paper came from my friend Tricia and I simply used various sheets of unknown designer companies in my layering, ending with a 4 panel on top evenly distributed.  I did 2 nestie die cuts for the focus point and fussy cut a birthday tag.  My distressing was done with Tim Holtz Photo Vintage and a combo with the Tattered Rose to get a lovely aged effect on all edges and the tag.  Ribbons were added from my stash as well and 3 silver skittles placed on the lower right of the circle nestie.  I stamped the flower (which looks like a Tim Holtz flower but is not) and added a bit of rose pink skittle to it.

I hope you like it!  Thank you so much for stopping by to check out my creation! Now if you haven't already, just hop over to Lindsy's place and her fabulous blog!

Here's the proper order of the blog:

Thank you to Allie G. for starting up a blog for Scrapbook Place!   My first entry is a THANK YOU  card as our challenge presents.  Easily done, it's a gate-fold card.  Cut at 4.25 x 5.5 in. the folds were made at 2 1/8" instead of the usual 4 1/4".  A few bits of Baylee's Garden-Awning Stripe and a coordinating blue background - grab a lovely ribbon from my ribbon box, fire up the hot glue gun and stamp a cute THANK YOU on the inside.  Sign it and it's in the mail to someone special with a lovely little RAK.

We do this all the time at Scrapbook Place!  Come on over and check out our blog!  We are new and alive with possibilities!  Please join us!

And thank you for visiting!

New Tag, New Gift and Altered Gift Box

Well it all started with knitting 4 six foot neck scarves for daughters and grand-daughter and sil.  Of course, I need special tags in a Valentine/heart theme.  Then comes the altered boxes.

The tag began with a Versafine stamped heart images crowded with flowers on a pink cs.  I pop dotted another heart reading love, love, love.........and mounted that on a black tag (handmade).  This recipient has a cat, loves teddy bears and is a camera buff, so I added a charm of each for her.  I really really hope she likes it.  All the goodies were in my stash so I purchased nothing which will make my friend Lindsy happy as we are in a stash bash together!

This tag will be in Joan's Gardens Challenge Tag #3 due on Sunday Jan. 23.

Next comes the gift box!  Formerly it was a really nice candy box - I love to find old boxes and alter them and this was adorable. First I painted inside and out with a MM strawberries and cream mixed with white - using a couple coats.  Then a bit of ribbon and jute - quilled flowres, flourishes (from my friend Anna) and some paper from my stash.

The tag and box and oh so soft scarf are ready for delivery!  Now on to the other 3!!!

The altered box is a challenge at Joan's Gardens this week.  With a box, a flourish, a flower and a butterfly - I'm ready to sit back and just feel good about what I created.

Joans' Gardens Challenge #2

45 cards for a nursing home; that's how the challenge began in our local scrapbook group!  A lot of members have joined in making the residents super happy at Valentine's Day - all thanks to Donna!  So I was busy making up my share and decided to put this one into Joan's Gardens Challenge as well.

The verse inside is from Helen Keller and listed below in another post.  I have a whole box of altered bottle caps and I've found a place FINALLY to begin using them up!  Nesties, sizzix die (heart), copic pens, patterned paper - all equal a lot of fun and love for someone on Valentine's Day.

Another Joan's Challenge Entry #2 For 2011

Just had to take time to do one more card - Joan's challenges are so getting me organized!  This card comprised something of each of the following as required.

1. Use paper that has a stripe (if you don't have one, you can make one)
2. Use a button or some kind of embellishment
3. Use a Heart
4. Use a bow

And making it is fun!  Actually the paper is 3 pieces of coordinating pp - the card is a 6x6 and has the inscription inside that says:

The Best and Most
cannot be seen or even
They must be felt with the
...Helen Keller
The photo was much better than this scanned pic - but my camera decided not to "talk" to my computer this afternoon.  So I yielded to the scanner.

Card Stock and DP from my Stash
Spellbinders Dies
Ribbon, Buttons, Jewels from my Stash

You know what?  You really need to come play with us at Joan's!!!  And do your shopping here too!  :)

3 to 5 ??

What's on the agenda for today - BLOW SNOW!!!!!!!  Our 3 to 5 turned into a temporary blizzard with white out conditions, catching schools off guard.  But Nikko still wanted to play "annie over" our shop with his ball!  And that's me all bundled up!  Yes, that is snow flying by while hubbie takes photos!  I'm going in to work on Valentine's for the Trenton Nursing Home!

Another Joan's Challenge Entry #2

I've been raiding my February Tote.  I have organized a lot of my essentials by which month is more appropriate - but when it comes to winter I have 3 months dedicated!

But this little 6x6 came together quickly and will enter into Joan's Challenge #2.  A puzzle piece, a rose embellie, a hanging heart off the leg of the rose, a pink ribbon and striped paper and silver embellishments all bring the card together fast.  Everything is distressed with CTMH Chocolate 1x1.

The paper pieces are most probably BG as my hubbie and I put together 14 card fronts a few nites ago while the snow was falling using leftover pieces of BG and Chatterbox.  It's nice to have someone help out and then just put them aside til needed and then attach to a full card.

A friend of mine on Scrapbook Place gave me the directions to these fast little 6x6 cards about a year ago and I enjoy going back to that method often.  All paper scraps are used up and who doesn't like to do that!

This card will be for someone special in my life with a box of candy - HE loves chocolate!  :)

BLOOM TAG - Joan's Tag Challenge #2

This wonderful tag was created for 2 reasons - another birthday in February-and Joan's Gardens Challenge gave us Tag Challenge #2.  I created the tag from Webster's Pages Petite Papers - using a bit of 3 differing pages - all are available from Joan's Gardens.  I love the combo.  The cherubs came from a Punch Out Pack from stash and the 3 dimensional pop dotted flowers came from a Marcella By Kay SOPHIA'S GARDEN DIMENSIONAL STICKERS.  My very favorite dimensional company!

I distressed everything with TH Tea Dye and Tattered Rose Distress Inks - I love that combo as well.  A soft olive ribbon was added to the tag and it will be attached to a lovely gift for a wonderful friend.

Come visit Joan's Gardens for some awesome inspiration!

More 2011 Challenges!

I made this 6x6 Valentine's card for my friend in Louisiana.  We are in a monthly card swap conducted at Scrapbook Place.  Each month is a new theme, a new partner and lots of fun onboard.  All that was required this month is any type of window card.  So I chose a Valentine since it is getting closer to that wonderful holiday.

Luckily this card also fit into Joan's Garden Challenge.  So I decided to enter this card in Challenge #1 for 2011 since her requirements are:

Make a card or project this week and use the following:
1. Use some kind of animal, bird or whatever (my whatever is the quilled flower and making a heart out of rhinestones)
2. Use a floral background paper (Anna Griffin I believe)
3. Do something that takes you out of your comfort zone (matching up the 4 squares and putting the piece back together so it looks great)
4. Use some kind of Die (the tag is a die - the quilled flower was cut as a die in strips)

I distressed all edges with TH  Tea Dye distressed ink - love that stuff!  A rhinestone was hot glued into the center of the flower and leaves were pop dotted for emphasis.  I stamped On Valentine's Day in lower right corner.

Hope you like it.

January Calendar - Joan's Garden Challenge #1

It's time to start the 2011 challenges at Joan's Gardens, and here's my first entry.  We can enter more than once, but time is  precious to me right now so doubt I'll get too much more than this one done.  But anyway, here's the rules:

1. Use some kind of animal, bird or whatever
2. Use a floral background paper
3. Do something that takes you out of your comfort zone
4. Use some kind of Die

Of course if you don't have the products you need, you can always substitute or order them from Joan's Gardens.  The flowers are fussy cut and then pop dotted and I even tucked in a few extra flowers from K&Co.  A few buttons and heart stones are in the lower right, a burgundy fiber winds around the whole calendar.  I used my very favorite Cuttlebug to cut a nestie with my bird on a log.  The calendar is off the net at  I just love them to pieces!

A Tag for a Gift

My dear friend Joan at Joan's Gardens promised some new things for us to participate in.  For the first 6 months of this year we are challenged to do a tag a week all due by each Sunday of the coming week - and the challenge begins there.  No particulars, just create a tag that you will use this year.  Hop on over to Joan's Gardens and check this out! Weekly winners will be voted so please support me if you can!

I did a far reach on this one - using some leftover stash of burlap, cuttlebug embossed folder, some bling and medallions and charms, creating something like a shabby chic would look in my mind's eye.  It really was a lot of fun and will accompany a Valentine/Birthday gift this year.  The tag on it says Love - but I will put "Happy Birthday" on the back of the entire tag when I present it.
