Inspiration Monday - Flowers and Bears

Hello, I'm from the Popcorn Bear Floral Collection  BUNCHES OF LOVE!  I'm waiting to surprise someone on a very special day!  If you love to create small amounts of flowers, then I want you to try your creativity out with me.

Well maybe Popcorn can't actually tell us of his ease in creating a gorgeous card, but I'll leave it up to you for your own judgment.  This little sweetie was stamped in Stazon and colored with watercolor pencils.  I use a fine point waterbrush to move the color around.

The doilied type bear is on pop dots as well as the butterflies.  The butterflies are die cuts from our Fairyopolis collection - just bend them a bit and pop dot them and they literally sit and wait on the card to be touched!  A few pearls and a rub on from the collection completed a fast card.  While it took me an hour to color him, it only took me about 20 min. to complete the card.

The backdrop card is from our luxurious FAIRYOPOLIS CARD MAKING KIT.  You will love it - guaranteed!  Top quality materials - gorgeous colors that just bring your fairy feelings to life, lovely 3 fold storage container consists of 24 pre-printed background cards and envelopes - some are 6x6 and some are standard A2s.  Stickers/die cuts/decoupage/rubons and complementary embellishments just bring your creations to life!

As a new designer for Crafter's Companion, I am totally thrilled to be able to come onboard with the new Fairyopolis collection and many more new items!  Stay tuned!

Hi Everyone!  And may I wish you a Happy Easter!  Guess what?  Sloe, is a lovely fairy from the Crafter's Companion Fall Fairyopolis Collection (Flower Fairies) and she was just begging for me to dress her up on a lovely 6x6 and send off to a dear friend!  Somedays I have to pinch myself to realize that I am now a designer for Crafter's Companion USA.  I'm a mom, grandmother and great grandmother with time on her hands and enjoying every free moment I have creating for Crafter's Companion!  I actually have not had a blog for very long so the entire world of blogging totally intrigues me.

Now back to Sloe - she was stamped with Stazon on our wonderful paper and is finished with prismacolor pencils and a little touch of the water brush here and there.  For a final dress up to her wings, I sprinkled them with sunflower sugar glitter from my friend Anna's shop.  The paper is from MME, the ribbons and pearls and gems are all various manufacturers, as I tend to collect items thru Scrapbook Place - a scarpbook/card making group I belong to.

May we all believe in fairies - it will be a wonderful world if we do!  Please take a moment to leave a comment and become a Follower over on the right hand side of this blog.  And don't forget to wander on over to Crafter's Companion's website and check out their awesome stamps!

Holy Saturday..........Eaglets and Facebook!

It's Holy Saturday here - a time for our family to recall the past and where we stand in our religious beliefs.  It's time for one of my daughters to come home and stay overnite and extended family to join us tomorrow with Easter celebrations.  My eldest daughter (with her husband and family) is serving her church tomorrow on Easter Day and thus needs to stay in her hometown.  We hope you are having a peaceful weekend.

And I just want to invite you take a few minutes out of your busy schedule and check out a nest of 3 eaglets with parents only 90 miles from me.  It's a live feed thru UStream and the Raptor Resource Center. This family has survived snow and ice storms recently; the young are growing fast and require lots of food now.  The Live Feed is just awesome.  The ability to watch this nest of our growing eagle population is totally fascinating everyday!

It's a Tut Challenge at Scrapbook Place

Today Scrapbook Place goes live with its very first Tutorial and inspiration examples.  While we are a very small scrapbook community, it has taken some time to get our blog up to speed.  But we thank Allie Gower immensely for all her help.  So for today, she's given us the chance to figure out how to do this tutorial in our scrapping and card making - just to make life a bit easier.  The reference tut is HERE!  Be sure to check it out.

My take on using this template will be the numerous tags I'm using in my Ancestry book I'm finally bringing together.  The tags will automatically be printed and I need only fill them in.

I recently found a couple new cousins with loads of info for me, and one of the cousins (Joan), actually had taken a trip to Mifflinburg PA - the home of my great-great-great grandfather.  As you can probably see the stones are written in German, and the church in the background on the left is still standing and has gone thru many owners as other proprietary establishments since Yost Fries passed on.

I very much am using up a lot of embellies that are only 2 or 3 of in this ancestry book.  I'm also putting in some antique style embellishments (call them vintage if you wish) but I'm waiting on them to arrive from my scrappin' bud Teresa in TN.  Meanwhile I have 2 pages ready to insert - using K&Co paper which I dearly love.

Have you tracked some of your ancestors yet?  Seems like it's the perfect opportunity to pass on some memories to your loved ones.  There are many places on the web that are free to track.  Enjoy!

GET OGRE IT! - Hambo Hoedown 11

Just a cute and fun project from the Bacon Bits Studio!  Use a little distressing anywhere, everywhere, and Mr. Ogre becomes a friendly little character!  I actually made another one with the other sentiment for Father's Day (I Can't Get Ogre You!).  This gorgeous doily was in a package today from a dear friend in Minnesota - I just love it!  The card bg was one I had premade and held in my stash.  A bit of gold distressing on the Get Ogre It! and my Ogre (A/K/A/ Incredible Hulk!) is walking off the page!  Have a great Monday evening!

Another Way to Make More Cards

Earlier I created a 6x6 card with similar back ground features for Joan's challenge.  As I usually do, I made up a few extra card backdrops with the paper I had lying around.  And as usual, I also have a 'clam' of finished art work ready to draw from at any time.  So I grabbed the ruby throated hummingbird and finished the card pulling out lots of embellies and using up extra stash.  I hope you'll note that I cut the hummingbird wing out before doing the nestie otherwise it would have cut the wing tip right off.  It's very easy to do.

I just thought I'd inspire you today to make 2 cards instead of 1, as long as you have all your supplies out!  Have a great weekend!

Joan's Garden Challenge #14

Joan's Gardens Challenge is always a 'fun' place to put a card or a tag.  Cards are done with a random no. generator and it's fair for everyone.  Joan's guidelines this week are:

Color challenge : orange, red, and green
Die Cut circle - any kind
Design paper with lines
Use a bird or something from Nature

I recently became a  Design Team member for Crafter's Companion so aptly chose an image from their S.W.A.L.K. (Sealed With a Little Kiss) collection called FRIENDS LIKE YOU ARE FAR TOO FEW.  However, my card will just be a "Thinking of You" card with an appropriate sentiment inside.  When you have time, check out their 2 blogs for lots of creative inspiration!
I chose to do lots of stitching on it and kept to the orange/red/green color idea.  I really enjoyed this challenge - the only challenge I had trouble with was finding something to keep hubbie busy with while I worked in my craft room today!  :)

I hope I've spread a little sunshine today with our little nature lover..........alas Easter is around the corner!  She really reminds me of that kind of love!

Card front only
My dear friend is recovering from an unexpected tragedy in her life.  Well I guess all tragedies are unexpected, but this sweet friend was expecting her baby and everything went wrong out of the blue.  I'm sure the Lord has some reasoning here - but one still goes thru the grieving process.  She and I write and email and I keep her in my prayers for success yet another day.  Such a treasure she sent me today in the mail - this gorgeous card!  And it's such an inspiration piece in many ways!  You'll notice that the scalloped circle is actually cut out of the card front and another die fits perfectly centered.

This is the inside of the card front.

Now I just have to try that - and I hope you will!  Don't give up - just try it, as I told another friend today who said she just doesn't have any creativity.  We all have something we can work on, something to lift our souls and inspire us!

I am motivated....I am Squigglefly Challenged!

Squigglefly is having the greatest challenge (SFC 93) for people who love to use fabric and stitching - rather real or faux - in their card and project making!  I love to sew = on cards, quilts, layoutsa, you name it, I've done it!  So my choice of their hummer for this project was easy - as the hummingbird is really my favorite visitor every summer!

This lovely hummingbird is a freebie download at Squigglefly (CLICK!)........try it before you buy it - great motto.  Their digis are really awesome!  I have a few places I get digis from and am happy to include Squigglefly in my shopping list now.

This ruby throated hummingbird is seeking nectar from the trumpet flower!  The bird is done in copics and adhered afterward to the Spellbinder Fleur de lis rectangle.  This is because I do not own that nestie but my wonderful friend Anna does and she shares with me in our scrapbook/card making group thru what we call Piffing.  I actually did a tiny zig zag around the card front before adhering the bird and fleur de lis.

I edged the fleur de lis with tea dye distressed ink.  The card front is edged with Krylon gold.  Everything is placed on a beautiful color of bazzill which I also trimmed with some sewing.  The tea dye lace on the lower half of the easel card was created my ME!  I love to crochet so I crocheted my own lace for this project!

The lower half of the card was first covered with a cloth paper that I've kept for eons never knowing when the right project would come.  Today it came!  The placement of this paper fabric makes this card eligible in our group blog's should take a look at what Allie did!

I hope you like this and I've given you some incentive to get that portable sewing machine out again - or why not try a treadle!  I have one of those too!  :)

Ahhh Easel Cards - you are my love!

I really REALLY enjoyed making Easter cards this year - and I find I'm still short; so off to work I go this evening!  I used copics on these 2 easel cards as well as K&Co paper I bought years ago at Joann's!!!  That's how old some of my stash is - but you know what?  Keep it clean and flat as possible and away from all odors and you can always have a new surprise when you go seeking another print!  My paper is divided by categories and colors.

I also used quilled flowers from the Cuttlebug Quilled dies as well as leaves.  A few rhinestones popped inside the quilled flowers help set it all off as well as some rafia tied to help the easel card stand upright.  I made a smaller tag out of some scraps of the same paper to say "HE IS RISEN!"

These cards didn't give me any grief as far as the standing up goes.  It's heavier paper too and I chose to end up with 4.25x5.5 card fronts top and bottom.  I wrote a little note under the card front so when it stands, no one notices.  Here is a close up of just one of them.  Hope you enjoy!

It's an Easel Easter!

First of all, I cannot believe how fast time is flying by this spring!  My husband and I are doing so much on our lawn and in the woods we hardly have time to stop and take a breath and admire the scenery!  I was very happy that Hambo Hoedown decided to challenge me/us with an Easel card for Easter; otherwise, I may not have had my Easter cards done!

Using Penguin Bunny (a free gift for participating last week) we were asked to refer to instructions given and try our hand at an easel card.  My very first - and I truly love them.  I used stash paper on hand, my copics of course, some glitter and Liquid Glass and my CTMH stampset for the Happy Easter greeting.  This particular Penguin Bunny will be going to my great granddaughter with a surprise gift for Easter.  Each of the boys will be getting a Penguin Bunny more appropriately colored for "boys".  :)

Oh btw, the green grass is cut from a paint chip!  Now how long has it been since you used paint chips!

April Marches In with Hambo Hoedown 9

Each month I make up a simple desk calendar to keep right here by my computer mostly for inspiration!  Hambo's Hoedown 9 gave us a digi caterpillar to march spring in with bright green and hot pink!  I actually printed Mr. Cat out twice - once on the hot pink and once on the lime green and then cut various portions to reattach in the final setup.  A bit of white marker pen on his topside gave him a bit more emphasis and a few copics to darken his bottom side and he was ready to show off his "Sole Mates"!

The butterflies are from my MS punch and covered with Liquid Glass and allowed to dry, which makes the wings lift up and pose.   I used a darling glitter kit from my friend Anna on Scrapbook Place to sparkle up the butterflies!  Her kits are absolutely fabulous and can be purchased directly from her by clicking here.

Hope you like Mr. Cat and hope you come on over to Hambo's and join us.  There's even a great blog hop going on now at TALK TO THE HAM!  Come on over!
